Question

Has something happened with Sub Aspida software?  I know that I have been able to use it in the past, but it hasn't worked for me just now.  I have tried this on Win7 and Win10 systems, with old and new installations of software (v4.6), on two sensors.  In each case it is not able to connect to the device with the following error message:

There was an error connecting to the device. See error message for

details.  The current version of software may not be compatible with the

connected device.  Installing a newer version of software may fix the problem.

Error: Error opening connection to device

    Detail: Error connecting to device

Answer

From the information you provide, I gather the software is operating correctly but the device is not communicating. There are  two potential solutions to this issue, the first will ensure that you have the most recent software on your PC, the second will show you how to update the Sub-Aspida Firmware.

Please un-install any old copies of the PC software before proceeding.

Prior to installing the Aspida software, it will be necessary to enable the Microsoft .NET Framework, please follow these steps:

Step1:

Press “Windows Logo” + “R” keys on the keyboard

Step 2:

Type “appwiz.cpl” in the “Run” command box and press “ENTER”

Step 3:

In the “Programs and Features” window, click on the link “Turn Windows features on or off”

Step 4:

Locate the “.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)” option and enable it

Step 5:

Select "OK" and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and restart your computer, if prompted.

You PC is now prepared for installation of the Aspida software. The required software should be downloaded from the Analox Sensor Technology Website.
